Goal Setting #3
This will be the last of the series on Goal Setting. Mind you we spent a great deal of time talking about the Daily Action, Daily Routine, which is the Daily Advertising you must do to reach your short and long term goals!!! Remember, and this is as simple as I can put it, with out the daily action of advertising, your goals, will only be dreams!!!
Now, the question I get most often in goal setting, outside of how do I reach them is, what is the best structure. Now, in looking at being an Entrepreneur online, your goals both professionally and personally are a direct reflection and intention of the mindset of your Business. Simply put...FORGET Instant Gratification. You are building a Business and your mindset is simple, your are always building, always growing, and any Business is a long term investment. Anyone, who has the mindset that I will try to do this for a while or I will give this online thing a shot, is doomed before they ever get started. Just like the movie Wall Street Says "You can't be a little bit Pregnant"...well you can't be a sometimes or a hopefully an entrepreneur. You live, you breathe, you study it, you developed for as long as it takes in building and achieving what you have always wanted!!!
Now in Goals there must be very Specific Items:
• The Goal must be emotional. This goes to our teaching on the "Y". Without an emotional and vested interest into something, it is easy to walk away from it. • Your Goals, just like the daily goals must be written out in detail. When I say Detail, I mean down to the very last crumb of information. Accompanying those details, writing out the emotional aspect beside it is an Awesome Idea!!!! • Have Pictures. Visualization of goals is not only important it is imperative. If you want a dream home on the Ocean...go find one that you have fallen in love with and take pictures. Why? A little saying I do: "Why are you working so hard? Look at the picture of your goals...and say this IS why I am working so hard". The picture makes it very real and very tangible. • Goals must be more than Money, although financial goals are important. I knew a guy one time that wanted to one day go to his Bank and cash a check for $100,000 dollars. I told him to write the check out to himself, and carry in his pocket or wallet, wherever he keeps his money. That way, there is a constant reminder of what one day, will BE!!! • Goals, should never be about everyone else and not yourself. Although including friends and family in your goals are important, if there is not at least one self serving interest....that passion may soon fade. Here is an example of what a goal should not look like: "I want to be successful for my Family"...a noble goal to say the least. However, it is to general, no deadlines, and to interpretive to what Success actually mean. • Last, your Goals should be everywhere. In your Office, Car, Kitchen, Family Room, Bathroom, Nightstand, on your Phone, Screen savers...any where you are they are. Real Goals often provoke Real Action!!!
The question that is the most interesting that I get, is Why Don't People do Goal Setting. That is the easiest answer of them all. Once you go through the exercise and do it the right way, you now OWN the outcome of what you achieve. When you don't have goals, you can always shift blame onto someone or something else.
